Parisa Eshraghi

Parisa received her first BSc degree in Information Technology from Azad University, Tehran, Iran in 2014, her second BASC degree in Electrical Engineering from UBC in 2020, and her MSC in Biomedical Engineering from UBC in 2021.
During her two-term internship at the UBC Robotics and Control Laboratory led by Prof. Abolmaesumi, Parisa worked on leading-edge research projects such as deep learning approaches for landmark detection in echocardiography cine frames. She joined IBL in Summer 2021 to complete her final internship under the supervision of Dr. Shadgan. During this period, she worked with near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) sensors, studied their calculation algorithms, and investigated new information that can be extracted from NIRS signals.
In her Capstone project under the supervision of Dr. Sam Wiseman, Parisa was an integral part of a team that designed and developed a prototype for a hand-held intraoperative imaging system to detect parathyroid glands during parathyroidectomy to assist surgeons with intraoperative decision making.
